Children's television Term Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Children's television - Term Paper Example To recognize prime television's possible impact on growth, one should think about ‘how much children watch television, how they direct their attention, and what they understand’. A study recommends that time spent watching prime television causes a decline in more important activities, such as, reading and creative play. Though facts supporting this suggestion are mixed, children who watch television mostly appear to spend a lesser amount of time busy in activities that promote cognitive growth and consecutively show the lowest success rate. For light to reasonable television spectators, content of the program, family interaction, and prospects for other actions moderate television's effects on children's success, as well as imagination (Pecora et al, p. 98). Apprehension about prime time television's effects on children's social growth extends to areas such as development of typecasts, recognizing as well as conveying sentiments, and difficulties such as substance explo itation as well as eating disorders. However, it is essential to know that not all effects of television are harmful. A number of studies (Pecora et al, p. 70-99) revealed that high school students who had viewed more educational programs on television as preschoolers had taken considerably higher marks in ‘English, Mathematics, and Science in junior high or high school’ (Pecora et al, p. 95-100). They also utilized books more frequently, proved higher educational confidence and placed a higher value on educational performance. These distinctions stayed true even after the effects of students’ early verbal communication skills, as well as family background variables were eradicated statistically. All of these outcomes offer strong proof for the learning success of children TV. Moreover, many other studies prove that Children’s’ TV is not alone in facilitating children to study. Comprehensive studies on other enlightening TV programs for kindergarten and school age children have proved that learning television can boost children’s understanding, talents, as well as mind-set in a broad range of subject areas. Similar to the educational effects of children television, many studies (Fisch, p. 102) have revealed that watching pro-social television programs creates major positive alterations in children’s social behavior. Without a doubt, evaluations as well as meta-analyses of the literature have proven that the helpful effects of pro-social television and the harmful effects of violent television are likely to be equally strong: Both forms of television cause little to moderate effects on spectators (Fisch, p. 102). Effects of children television have been documented as raises within quite a lot of fields: outgoingness in addition to positive connections in most cases, unselfishness as well as collaboration, strength of mind as well as delay of fulfillment, and lessening of typecasts. The majority of this study has b een carried out with kindergarten children, so the bulk of the facts to date recounts to this age bracket. Even though study has indicated at a constant pattern of effects of children television, frequently these effects have been less strong in comparison to the educational effects of children television. Quite a lot of possible reasons might be provided for this variation: First, it is likely that social outcomes are more complicated for researchers to assess, so the measures applied in a

Improvements in Iraq freedom Essay Example for Free

Improvements in Iraq freedom Essay Introduction The rebirth of freedom in Iraqi brought some improvements with it. There is, the rebirth of freedom itself, economic the advancement of the political and civil society growth as well as reconstruction progress, generosity of foreigners and positive role played by the coalition troops in rebuilding the colony as well as unremarked upon security successes. Contrary to some critics, the intention of the media in not high-lighting some of these positive developments has never been to whitewash the situation in Iraq or to down pay the negative; the bloodshed, the violence, frustrations as well as disappointments are all there for every one to see and about in the main stream media on daily basis. But to point out positive developments is not to deny the bad news, merely to provide a more complete picture (Preble, 2004) The past Saddam Hussein’s regime was a minority Sunni. The long suppressed Shia majority is free now to voice its concern, demanding in post operations Iraq’s freedom (OIF) (Preble, 2004) The world population is increasing tremendously during operation Iraq’s freedom majority of Iraq population were women. This shows that they participated in the operation Iraq freedom more than men during the OIF; the coalition troop had to fight the insurgents whom the majority was men. The local populace personnel were mainly made up women. (Tripp, 2004) OIF brought democracy in Iraq. It made it possible for the Iraqis to prepare for their first ever democratic elections. Iraqis living overseas were also given an opportunity to prepare to vote in the general elections. Even any one who was an Iraqi citizen was eligible to vote. No restrictions were surfaced on Iraqis on the basis of religion, race or sex. This included even those who were Israeli citizens at that time. Anyone who had an original Iraqi birth certificate was to take part is the vote (Preble, 2004) A lot of electoral education activities as well as campaigns run by individual candidates, individual parties or alliances, seminars, conferences as well as posters were all over the place. Iraqis took advantages of the OIF and improved their lives Many Iraqis started investing a fresh in their businesses. The future was looking bright for the people and everything was moving in the right direction During OIF the US used local security forces of indigenous paramilitary personnel in stability operations because it is one of the cornerstones of US foreign policy supporting a newly formed local government. In fact the ideologies forces were integrated in all aspects of US stability operations to provide legitimacy as well as availability for a new government trained as a force capable of dealing with internal as well as foreign threats ,and influenced the local populace’s perception as the new government attention to solve the problems . The stability operations by the United States in Iraq provided for local security to be integrated and used in the majority of US military operations. Such stability operations require a long-term commitment by the United States in cooperation with local leaders to identify, train in as well as integrate local forces into security key fixed sites, as well as conducting security operations on asymmetric battlefields. (Tripp, 2004) Normally what happen the United States characteristics stability operations as promoting as well as protecting US national interests by influencing the political as well as threat aspects of the operational environment. Ground commanders are usually granted to broad and flexible discretions pursuant to rules of engagement to execute the missions required in the area of responsibility. With the broad discretionary choices, commanders tailor their actions according to the type of stability operations needed. (Cordesman, 1999) There are quite a number of benefits that the US army gets from the local populace. Some of them are, for one, it will likely assume responsibility for areas that have suffered significant war-related damages. Secondly, it gets the much needed, military exposure, especially in applying their counterinsurgency tactics they learn quite a lot than other forces in the world. Thirdly the terms and conditions of the salaries of the US army tend to become more favorable in its operation in Iraq. Even while deployed, the US army is covered by the federal employee’s compensation act program, which is known as FECA. (Preble, 2004) The whole process of bringing back freedom and democracy in Iraq has many complications and risks which were to be overcome by the US army. The past regime had constructed extensively many obstacles which were to be surmounted. All the same the United States managed to win the hearts and minds of Iraqis. (Preble, 2004) The positive attitude the U. S. army received during Iraqi freedom was not enough, and especially could not fill the negatives that the tribal leaders of Sunni, Shiite, and Kurdish created through operating at will as well as conducting guerrilla attacks through out the country. Things were not easy for the United State army since it operated as the only entity capable of providing much needed assistance and the required security aspects of the verify effort. At that time there was an illusion that the army was to be a brief temporary presence evaporated almost immediately Conclusion. Post-conflict Iraq security tasks may include control of belligerents, protection of the populace, territorial security, and protection of main individuals, infrastructure as well as institutions and reform of all indigenous security institutions. The control of be liberal task includes: implement as well as maintain the ceasefire; enforce the peace agreement, and support disarmament, de-mobilization as well as reintegration. Territorial security includes, non-combatants, clearance of unexploded ordinance, as well s maintaining public orders. The protection of key individuals, infrastructure, and institutions includes private institution as well as individuals, critical infrastructure, military infrastructure, and public institutions. This shows that the U. S army did a lot to the local populace. As such it deserves more benefits than what it got (Tripp, 2004). Things have really improved now the ethnicity factors have started to lose there meaning. The Shiite, Sunni, and Kurdish will live in peace. Many students are now studying political science. The economy has improved and many better things can still be achieved. What U. S did in Iraq and is still doing shows a lot how much a super power can do to save other countries. T he people of Iraq are now enjoying the rebirth of freedom as well as economic prosperity in their beloved country. U. S is never tired to see into it that the world is a better place. Other countries should also follow the good example of United States. Many battles have been won in history but there is no one battle that has been won in a special like that of United States restoring freedom in Iraq. (Preble, 2004). Reference: Cordesman, H. The Russian Revolution :: essays research papers

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Revolution is a change, change can be a good thing, like the bell-bottom revolution. Or it can be a bad thing like the Russian Revolution. In the early 1900’s the revolution in Russia broke out, at this time Czar Nicholas was ruling a monarchy government. Some say Russia’s Revolution was to be blamed because of the Czar’s bad decision making and his oblivion to what was going on in his country. The political, economic, and social effects from this revolution was horrific.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In Russia the wealthy lived rich and famous while the poor were starving unnoticed. There was such tremendous poverty, and the cops just wouldn’t grow, people started rebelling. The wanted more, they needed more. The Czar did nothing about their needs because he didn’t know how bad things were. From his lifestyle he thought life was well. Eventually people had enough they were ready to turn on their leader.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Once the soldiers, who were fighting in WWI turned on the Czar everything went downhill. There was no one there to stop the people from rioting. Instead of the soldiers stopping them they joined them. The soldiers turned on the Czar because they were starving and dieing†¦ they only had three bullets a day at war. Everyone hated the Czar except for a small class of wealthy people. The monarch government just wasn’t cutting it anymore. People wanted to be heard, they wanted rights.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Eventually things got so bad that the Czar abdicated for his son and himself. This took everyone by surprise and the communist government stepped in through the confusion and took over. People didn’t mind this because they promised everyone would be equal and they said they would deliver peace and food. The only people who objected to this was the rich class because they didn’t want to be equal, they liked having more then everyone else.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  I believe the Russian Revolution could of definitely of been avoided.

Warehouse Management System

In a WMS, we aim to observe the maximized profits with a minimized cost with certain computerized procedures to enable a seamless process of warehouse operation. With the above consideration, we come up with 4 main special features that are essential to be equipped in the WMS. First of all, we need to have barcode labeling for all the stocks in the warehouse in order to identify each product, keep record in the system and find them out easily. It is necessary for us to have detailed information of every stock in the warehouse by simply identifying the barcode labels with wireless inventory scanner, which could save time, reduce paper work and greatly increase the productivity and accuracy when handling stocks. Barcode labeling is fundamental for WMS as we need to keep tracking the stocks throughout the whole warehouse operation process. Secondly, we think that efficiency is also an undeniable element in WMS, which we consider auto-conveyer as one of our choice of special features to e nhance the efficiency.Auto-conveyor could reduce the need of man power and it is much speedy than the manually controlled way when moving stocks as it could quickly retrieve wanted items. Auto conveyor could also handle some simple sorting and identification work, which greatly reduce the need of manpower. Thirdly, virtual warehouse would be our core feature in the WMS, it acts as an important role in both order management and put away and packing. It provides a comprehensive physical view of the warehouse. With a virtual warehouse, we could have a clear idea of the operating warehouse through the browser. It could facilitate the decision making in the WMS as we could control a lot of process with a virtual warehouse. Indeed, a virtual warehouse is a system that involved a lot of components, but we are now focusing on the order management and the put away and picking management. With WMS, orders could be generated easily on the internet as the information of customers, suppliers and the stocks are kept in the system. It is convenient to add items, notes and select the customer or supplier for your purchase or sales order. This may improve the efficiency and is environmentally friendly when compared with the paper file. It is much less time-consuming to find out the order and customer information. For the put away management, the WMS could utilize the optimum locations for the stocks received in the warehouse automatically. Also in the picking management, the WMS could decide the best location for picking. With this system, we do not have to waste time on finding storage location, while having a greater control in the allocation of resources and facilitates time management. In fact, the virtual warehouse could not work alone, while barcode labeling and auto-conveyor assisted the virtual warehouse a lot in the stance of automation and computerization. They three are interrelated and the virtual warehouse is in the leading position among them, which means it is impo rtant in connecting different parts of a warehouse and make the WMS works. Although the above 3 special features has provide us convenience, efficiency and accuracy, we could not fully rely on a computerized system but to have a feature that could reduce our mistakes to the minimum, ideally, zero mistake. Thus the last feature we include in our WMS is cycle counting. Cycle counting reduces the need for the time-consuming and costly process of shutting down the manufacturing process in order to count inventory, which the inventory auditing procedure is carried out according to a continuous schedule. The result would be a more accurate calculation of stocks in the warehouse. To conclude, we think these four features are able to make a WMS that could control material movement efficiently and most possibly making the maximum profit.

The Future of the Economy in the year 2000 essays

The Future of the Economy in the year 2000 essays The economy has performed exceptionally well for the past several years, combining rapid growth and very low unemployment with declining inflation. Not only has the expansion achieved record length, but it has done so with far stronger growth than expected, stated Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan in his remarks to the National Community Reinvestment Coalition annual conference in Washington (Business Week, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Economic Outlook, March 6,2000). Figures show that since 1996, the growth of GDP has averaged more than 4 percent, compared with an average of about 3 percent since 1973. Because of those four years of rapid growth, the unemployment rate has fallen to 4.1 percent, its lowest level since January 1970. Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation, excluding food and energy prices, had been vacillating at about 3 percent per year earlier in the decade but was roughly 2 percent over the past year (Bank of America, Economic in Brief, November 1, 1999). Much of the auspicious recent economic developments can be attributed to a surge in productivity growth. Alan Greenspan noted in his statement that output per hour in the non-financial corporate sector had increased since 1995 at nearly double the average pace of the preceding 25 years (First Union, Monthly Economic Outlook, March 7, 2000). This rapid productivity growth allowed the economy to grow at a faster pace without raising the rate of inflation. However, the growth of consumer demand is exceeding the increase of productivity-boosting employment, tightening labor markets, and raising concerns that recent growth rates may not be sustainable without sparking a rise in inflation. After spending the past several years, extolling the virtues of improved productivity in allowing higher growth with less inflation, the Federal Reserve Chairman, seemed to turn the tables in his Humphrey Hawkins testimony, stating that the spurt in productivity has p...
